My first dance experience began a couple
of years ago when I enrolled in Katy Fineman's Ballroom Dance Class
at IUPUI. We learned several types of dances including Waltz, Cha-cha,
East & West Coast Swing as well as a couple of country line dances.
After the semester ended, Katy asked me to join the IUPUI SwingCat Dance
Club. Since then, we have performed many events including the Ballroom
Bash, C.A.S.H Bash and other local events.
As for Salsa dancing, I started taking group lessons at the Red Room
towards the tail end of December of 2005 (by the way, thanks to Lindy
for telling me about the Red Room). Shortly after that, I auditioned
for the Into Salsa Student Performance Team. I remember being so excited
when I was asked to join the team. On top of that, I had the opportunity
to dance/work with a great group of people; especially my wonderful
partner Yoshimi; who often danced so well that she made me look good.
Well, it's near the end of August and after five amazing performances
by our team, Yoshimi has moved on (back to Japan), and I have been asked
to join the Dance Company. And again, I am looking forward to working
with a great group of talented dancers.
I just want to say thanks to Erin and Yang for giving me, as well as
other students, the opportunity to work with great instructors on an
awesome team. You two demonstrate strong leadership skills and display
genuine interest in the progress of your students.
Also thanks to Yoshimi for being patient and caring. I will miss you.
Finally, thanks to Katy. When I hear the word 'dance', I most often
think of you.
