A year ago, my friend Juan Garcia brought me to the Cozy to introduce
me to Salsa dancing. He tried for months but I always said no. I had
absolutely no knowledge about Salsa, I never listened to Salsa music
and had never seen anybody dancing it. Actually, I had no dancing skills.
When I first heard the music I loved it. I was amazed by what they could
do on the dance floor and how sensual the dance looked. That day, Joy
gave me my first Salsa lesson and I decided to take Latin dance classes.
I was told that my life would change when I learned Salsa. I did not
believe it, but it could not be more true. Since that day, I have tried
to attend every class possible and to go to all the Latin nightclubs
in town. I also put away my old CDs and I replaced them with Salsa music.
When I travel, I plan to go to new Salsa clubs and dance with the local
Salseras. I have made more friends in my first year of dancing than
in any other year in my life. No other passion or hobby in my life has
brought me more happiness than Salsa, my personal time is now centered
on Salsa dancing.
My goal now is to improve my dancing skills because the greatest thing
about Salsa is that learning is life-long. There is always a new pattern
to learn and room for improvement. I also want to attend more congresos
and experience new nightclubs.
