Roberto
Hi, salseras and salseros. I come from The Dominican Republic the land
of the Merengue and the Bachata, therefore I started dancing Merengue
and Bachata when I was very young. I didn't like Salsa when I was a
kid; not until I watched a Salsa contest in one of the TV shows in the
country. After that moment I was in love with it.
Then I moved from D.R. to New York. Once in NYC I used to see a lot
of good salseros, but I was too shy to ask them to teach me or tell
me where to go to learn.
I tried to learn the dance by myself without any success. It was not
as easy as Merengue or Bachata to me, therefore I would like to encourage
those street style salseros to take some classes, I'm sure you won't
regret it.
Years went by and I never learned salsa the right way, but a couple
of years ago I saw Douglas "Tee" Thompkins dancing at a club;
we talked, he invited me to The Red Brick Dance Studio and then I started
dancing Salsa. THANK YOU Jessica Franklin and Douglas "Tee"
Thompkins for opening the doors of Salsa for me and Indy.
Well, salseras and salseros see you at the club.
