Hey everyone! It's always been a pleasure coming to Indy, and coming back especially with the gracious welcome of IntoSalsa. I'm from Minneapolis which is my home and where I teach salsa. I've been dancing salsa since 2002, and it has been an addiction for me. Not an obsession, not a passion, but an ADDICTION. I need it, I want it, I crave it. I love to learn, grow in, share, teach and live this dance in my life. I dance many different styles of salsa(like 7, but don't quote me on that, hehe) and I love it all. Dance was never something I thought I'd be doing, and when most people look at me, they still don't see a dancer. Coming from a background of Ballroom, Swing, Lindy Hop and martial arts for several years before, I heard salsa music a few times and I knew I wanted to dance to it, but never knew what it looked like. It took a couple years for me before discovering the Social Dance Studio, which I'm now proudly teaching for, to encourage, compliment and support me in my growth and development even today!
I'm forever going to be a student of dance to further pursue my creativity, and still continue to dance other dances. I've taken a big dedication to Argentine tango and absolutely love it. So much that I wanted to use it for salsa! My creative process for doing this became a challenge, because I didn't want to dance Tango to Salsa music, I just wanted some of its moves and philosophy behind that kind of partnership. Thus the Tango-Salsa fusion was born.
I plan to be able to share and teach salsa all over the world and I'm getting a good start. There's a wonderful connection with dancing communities that make you want to be a part of it everywhere. I want to contribute to that cause and Yang and Erin have inspired me to continue to do more of what I love to do. Viva la IntoSalsa! And see you at the dance floor somewhere!
