Julio Hernandez

I was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. As some of you know, salsa is very popular in Colombia. I grew up listening to salsa and by the age of 12, I was already “addicted” to it. The only problem I had was that I did not know how to dance. I was too shy to get on the dance floor to even try.

When I moved to Indy, I decided that it was time to give it a try. I started to look for dancing studios on the web until I found Intosalsa. I started to take lessons from Yang and Erin in October 2004. I became a regular in the salsa scene and I have been dancing ever since. Learning how to salsa has been one of the best things that I have ever done since I moved to the States. I have met a lot of cool people who enjoy salsa dancing as much as I do. Salsa dancing has changed completely my lifestyle. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Yang and Erin for helping me make that change.

Finally, remember that: “Salsa is not a rhythm, it’s a concept…” (Willie Colon)
