Sylvia White
Hi I am Sylvia and I was born and raised
in England. Started doing acrobatic dancing when I was about 5 then
went on to being a dancer on Christmas Pantomines until I was about
14. My father did not think it was a good idea for me to be a professional
dancer so I had to quit. Thats when I started to do social dancing.
I worked at a company that had about 6 branches in Liverpool, my home
town, and they had a group in each one that would go to another branch
each week and entertain them. Also at Xmas they would do Xmas Pantomines
at their Social Club. So I did that until I came to the U.S.A. in 1958.
I didn't do any dancing for about 20 years. Then I decided it was time
for me to get back into dancing again. About 10 years ago I found Salsa
and fell in love with it. It was like a new lease on life. I was never
good at taking classes, and at that time there were no places to go
for classes. So I learnt by just doing it on the dance floor. Now we
have a great studio to learn from. I will never get a chance to be a
professional dancer now, but I will always want to dance. To me life
is not worth if I can't dance. It keeps me alive and in reasonable good
health at my age. I think that's great.
I encourage everyone to keep on dancing , whether you are good or bad.
It's a wonderful way to live you life.
