My first experience with Salsa was last
Spring at the Jazz Kitchen. I hadn't a clue what everyone was doing,
but it looked like a blast. In the weeks following, I signed up for
a class at IntoSalsa. I've always been on the shy side, so I entered
with a bit of hesitation, but I found that Yang and Erin provided not
only great instruction, but also a very encouraging and relaxed environment.
Through my salsa classes, Rueda group, and going out to the clubs, I
have found this community filled with a wonderful group of people whose
passion for dancing and life have helped to enrich my own. Not only
are the salsera/salsero’s personalities warm and engaging, but just
sitting and watching everyone dance is such a joy. Of course, I prefer
to take part, but watching is certainly a close second. I'm definitely
still a work in progress, and can't promise not to stumble a bit or
make a goofy face…but if you’re game, I’d love to dance.
