Naomi Komoda

Hola salseros!

My name is Naomi Komoda, and I'm originally from California with Japanese, Russian and Polish heritage, but a lot of people think I'm Hispanic, especially since I speak Spanish. That's just fine with me since I love Latin culture and was fortunate enough to live in South America (Ecuador) for several years. I also have lived in Japan and in many parts of the U.S.

I am very happy to be part of the Indy salsa community. Although I started Latin dancing in college - mostly cumbia and merengue - it wasn't until I met Yang and Erin 2 1/2 years ago that I really started getting serious about salsa. I took a couple of lessons and a few classes, but mostly I have learned and continue to learn to dance by dancing...and dancing...and dancing! I'm crazy enough to drive all the way from Bloomington to dance at least once a week...often twice. I can't imagine life without salsa and I'd like to thank the many, many wonderful people who have befriended me and helped me along the way.

See you on the dance floor!
