Danese Kenon
I heard the music drifting into the streets
before I ever saw one dance move. I was in Havana, Cuba, 2003, walking
into a dark room that was tucked away from the road. It was beautiful.
They were beautiful. There were people everywhere dancing effortlessly,
they were smooth
sexy. I was intrigued and my body was moving before
my mind could understand. The first thing I did when I got back to the
United States was find a dance club where the men and women danced like
water flows. Ive been addicted ever since.
I am originally from upstate New York and have moved here to work at
The Indianapolis Star as a photojournalist. I have been a professional
photographer for about six years. This job has taken me around the world.
I hope one day, it will lead me back to Havana.
