Indianapolis salseros and salseras, get ready for the first big Salsa event this summer! The IntoSalsa Amateur Freestyle Salsa Dance Competition will take place at El Meson every Saturday in June, 2008 with
total prize of $800! This competition
is for amateurs, but dance company or dance team members are allowed as long as they don't get paid to teach or perform. This is a freestyle Salsa competition, which means dancers will dance to songs chosen by the DJ. There's no restrictions on dips, flips, drops, etc. All styles are welcome!
COMPETITION DATES
The preliminaries are on Saturdays, June 7th, 14th, and 21st.
Each week two couples will be chosen to enter the final on Saturday, June 28th. Doors will open at 9pm. The competitions will take place around 11:30pm each night.
LOCATION
El Meson is located at 8920 Wesleyan Rd. (near 86th St. and Michigan Rd.) 
PRIZES
1st prize is $400 plus trophy. 2nd prize is $250.
The 3rd prize is $100. The 4th prize is $50.
REGISTRATION
Contestants will register on the day of the preliminaries. There's no registration
fee.
RULES FOR
PRELIMINARIES
- All contestants must check in by
10:00 pm the day of the preliminary.
- Couples will
dance together for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes to a Salsa song chosen by the DJ.
- Each
couple will then dance for 1 minute to a Salsa song chosen by the DJ.
- Contestants
will be judged by audience reaction.
- Costumes are
not required.
- Two couples will be chosen at each
preliminary to advance to the final.
- Couples not chosen
from the first preliminary can still enter the next preliminary.
RULES FOR FINAL

PUBLICITY
During the competitions videos and photographs will be taken for the sole use
of IntoSalsa, Inc.
In the event that contestants do not wish to be filmed or photographed, they will
be disqualified. Furthermore, they understand that they will not receive any compensation
for the use of photos or video that they appear in. The winners will have the
option to perform at future events hosted by IntoSalsa.
