Salsa Halloween Weekend at Club Kameleon and
The Blue Cactus

There was a full moon out this past Halloween weekend. I know it not
only because the sky shone brightly, but because the salseros and salseras
of Indy got wilder than ever. Never before have I witnessed such a group
of uninhibited salseros. Most nights at any given Latin club you would
witness men and women, dressed in their best threads, dancing perfectly
sexy and proud on the wooden dance floors. However Friday and Saturday
at Kameleon and Blue Cactus of this past week, I saw men and women dressed
in the most compromising attire - even their mothers would have turned
away: Super Sperm, drag queens, disco daddies, cat ladies, warrior princesses,
naughty nuns, and devilish divas. Not only were the costumes wild, but
the behavior of our salseros and salseras was even worse. I believe
it was my proudest salsa moment in Indy.
Suzie
and Alex started the weekend with a bang at Kameleon. I must say the
décor in the club was fantastic; I must give them a hand. There were
two quite large spider webs over the dance floor with eerie lights shining
through them onto the dancers below. Two bloody corpes were shallowly
burried outsied the VIP dungeon. Also, my favorite part, one giant spider
hanging from the rafters that could be lowered onto some unsuspecting
salseros (sorry Yang and Cynthia). I still laugh thinking about it (but
only my evil laugh).
DJ
TaZ made a nice showing at the party wearing an afro and sunglasses
from the disco era. Ladies lined up to smack red lipstick all over him.
As for the costume contest, there was no winning J-Lo. Instead a feisty
bumble bee stung the big-bootied divas right out of the winner's circle.
A young version of Tito Puente took it away for the men's costume contest,
but not without a fight against three senior citizens. Apparently at
Kameleon, the only way to win was to be outrageous. Click

Blue Cactus carried on the torch Saturday night to wrap up the Halloween
weekend. I walked into the party and didn't recognize anybody. Wigs,
bandages, fake teeth, blood, horns, whips, and masks covered all of
my INtoSalsa friends. Dj TaZ, shall I say, looked even more stunning
than the night before. He strutted the stage all night in fishnet stockings,
a mini skirt, tank top, heels, and a wig. Not only did he get pawed
by the ladies that night, but the men were insatiable. One after one,
I saw the boys cop a free feel of TaZ. It was so bad that I could have
swore TaZ came dressed up as a carnival ride instead of a female.
The
costume contest was a naughty spectacle. Both for the men's and the
women's costume contest the participants were forced to work for their
prize. Individually each contestant had to demonstrate their best booty-shaking
skills in order to win the approval of the audience. The men were raunchy,
and I mean that in the best way possible. However, Roberto a.k.a. 'Disco
Daddy' in his tight white jumpsuit, shook it the best. He narrowly beat
out Chad, the caveman, who impressed the ladies with his muscles and
a crazy cavemen dance. As for the ladies, the bumble bee from the night
before came back to defend her title with everything she had. Shayne,
the warrior princess of INtoSalsa, hit the dance floor like she was
entering the boxing ring. She shook it for all it was worth. The men
just stood with their mouths dropped. I know they all had sweet dreams
that night. Click

Until next year, I know we will all keep fond
memories of this past Halloween weekend in our memories. Hopefully next
year we will all be as wild and uninhibited as we were this year. Thanks
everybody for your effort to dress up and help make this Halloween weekend
a success! This is the first time that INtoSalsa teams up with Club
Kameleon to bring events to Indianapolis. I'm sure it won't be the last.
Here's to next year . . .
